Veterans Day Celebration 2025

On November 6, members of the community gathered at Sam Boardman Elementary School for the school’s annual Veterans Day Celebration. In preparation for the event, students created handmade invitations and decorations, practiced songs, and honed their public speaking skills.

Upon arrival, veterans were greeted by patriotic decorations, student-made posters, and a POW*MIA Remembrance Table displayed in the school’s foyer. The table serves as a powerful symbol honoring Prisoners of War and those Missing in Action. Each item placed on the table carries special meaning:

  • White Tablecloth: The purity of their response to our nation’s call to arms

  • Round Table: Our concern for these service members is everlasting

  • Empty Chair: Represents all who are no longer with us

  • White Candle: Everlasting hope for a joyous reunion

  • Red Rose: Symbolizes the love and families of fallen soldiers

  • Lemon Slice: Reminds us of their bitter fate

  • Salt: Represents the tears of their families

  • Empty Wine Glass: Honors those who cannot join us in celebration

  • Black Napkin: Reflects the emptiness felt by loved ones left behind

We'd like to extend our gratitude to Al and Shelley Bard for taking charge of table set up. These soldiers should always be honored, recognized, and remembered.

In the gymnasium, students welcomed guests and distributed programs as they took their seats. Principal Carbray opened the ceremony with remarks of gratitude, highlighting the importance of honoring veterans for their service and sacrifices.
