During our bond process, people have asked What is the difference between my home’s Real Market Value and Assessed Value? Real Market Value (RMV) is the amount that a property could reasonably expect to sell for as of January 1 of each year. Assessed Value (AV) is the value of the property subject to taxation. It cannot exceed the RMV. You can look up your home property’s Assessed Value (AV) by reviewing your tax statement or through the search function at the Morrow County Assessor’s Office webpage. Use your home’s Assessed Value to calculate what you would pay in property taxes if the Morrow County School District proposed bond passes: Based on a home with an assessed value of $225,000: • Divide $225,000 by 1000 = 225 • Multiply 225 by $2.99 = $673 per year in property taxes • $673 divided by 12 = $56 per month in property taxes Based on $2.99 per $1,000 of assessed property value; actual levy rate may differ.
